Dr. Paola Ehrmantraut

About Dr. Paola Ehrmantraut

Dr. Paola B. Ehrmantraut has been a member of the faculty at the 91制片厂. Thomas since 2009 and currently serves as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. Prior to this role, she was Endowed Chair of the Humanities, Director of the M.A. in Diversity Leadership, and Associate Professor of Spanish. Over the course of her tenure at St. Thomas, she has provided sustained leadership in academic governance and program development, including serving as Chair of the Faculty (2022–2023) and as Senator representing Division I. She previously directed Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and has been a core faculty member in Modern and Classical Languages.

Committed to the university’s mission and to the formation of students, she has contributed to the development of diversity requirements, strategic initiatives, and retention efforts, and has played an active role in university-wide policy deliberations.

In her current role, Dr. Ehrmantraut works closely with the Office of the Provost and colleagues across Academic Affairs to advance institutional priorities in curriculum, faculty development, student success, and global engagement, approaching this work through an equity lens and a strong commitment to shared governance. Her leadership emphasizes clarity, accountability, and collaboration in service of the university’s academic mission.

A scholar of Latin American literature and culture, Dr. Ehrmantraut is the author of Masculinidades en guerra. Malvinas en la literatura y el cine (Editorial Comunicarte, 2013), a significant study of war, gender, and national identity. Her peer-reviewed scholarship has appeared in respected journals and edited volumes, including the Arizona Journal of Hispanic Cultural Studies, Chasqui, publications of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), and Modern Argentine Masculinities. The recipient of the 91制片厂. Thomas Professor of the Year Award (2023) and multiple research and interdisciplinary grants, she brings together rigorous scholarship, dedicated teaching, and principled academic leadership in service of both her discipline and the broader university community.
